Tone la Maji Circus Project

On November 21 we received in in Nairobi a group of friends from Turin, members of the Foundation “United to Grow” (UCI). They started the first phase of the “Tone La Maji Circus Project”.
The project, which kicked off on November 26 in the Tone la Maji, consists in workshops of Social Circus for the children and adolescents of our homes: Tone La Maji, Kivuli, Anita’s Home and Ndugu Mdogo. It will last until December 19.
In this first phase of the project the organizers and theachers are: Maria Luisa Mirabella, president of the UCI foundation, Luca Sartor, professional educator and professor of circus, Luca Marzini, social circus operator, Francesca Monaco and Anna Santarelli, volunteers, Martina Carlini artistic assistant, Raffaele Ballarati, member of the Board of Trustees of UCI. UCI thanks La Goccia for providing the structure, and La Goccia, Amani and Koinonia for the great educational work already done with these yung people.
The Tone la Maji Circus Project will continue its activities until December 2014, with four other sessions to be held in 2013 and 2014, during the school holidays.
United to Grow continues the Koinonia tradition of using the arts of circus for rehabilitation and education of the youth.
For the first time a few girls of Anita’s Home participate in this kind of activity. Participants are divided into two groups, children and adolescents, with the expectation that by the end of 2014 the adolescents will have grown in their turn into instructors.

These are days of commitment and joy for all.
